Breakpoint
The Challenge
ANZ are a regular sponsor of the Australian Open, but they needed a way to make their brand stand-out in the crowded sponsorship space. At the same time they were launching a new campaign, so they needed an installation that could match their campaign, and attract eyeballs.
The Solution
ANZ Breakpoint is an impressive digital installation of three projected game-booths, creating a total digital display area of 54 square meters. The experience is designed to be as immersive for the individual players as it is for the audience. To play the game, fans pick up a regular racket from a screen-enabled plinth and enter an immersive, interactive game and begin playing without any need for special instruction or obvious technology.
Key Technical Features:
- Motion Sensor Technology: Recognizes tennis swing gestures naturally
- Large-scale Projection: 54 square meters of total digital display
- Intuitive Design: No special instruction needed, immediate playability
- Usage Analytics: Measures throughput and engagement
- Universal Accessibility: High usability across a range of ability and body types
The Result
- Award-winning experience: 2017 Melbourne Design Awards and 2017 Good Design Awards
- Incredibly popular: 40+ minute queue to play, queue extended outside the building
- High engagement: Attracted massive crowds at the Australian Open
